Normally you could have your x-ray exam completed in 15 – 20 minutes depending on what type of x-ray exam you are having done. But there are times when the departments are busy, and the wait time can be longer. If you are concerned about the wait time, please check with the receptionist and she will be able to help you.

We prefer not to x-ray patients that are pregnant unless there is an exceptional reason. If you think you may be pregnant please inform the x-ray technologist before having the x-ray done. We may request the patient to have a pregnancy test before doing the x-ray.

Yes, there are no restrictions with general x-ray exams.

Better images are obtained during the transabdominal ultrasound if the bladder is full because a full bladder moves bowel away from the pelvic area and allows visualization of the uterus and ovaries.

Fasting reduces the amount of bowel gas which obstructs abdominal organs. Eating causes the gall bladder to contract, preventing visualization of abnormalities in it.

We ask that you bring in only one adult for the actual exam. You can bring in other adults and children at the end of the exam and the technologist will show you the pictures together.
